Fortis Healthcare (India) Limited is planning to start its low-cost healthcare model from the first quarter in the next financial year.
“We have developed a low cost model where we will be setting up hospitals across Tier III and Tier IV cities (with around 400 sft areas). The main focus is to make healthcare accessible for all,” said Daljit Singh, president of Fortis Healthcare (India), said.
The company was piloting the project across 8-9 hospitals and would start in full-fledge in the next three months, he added.
The low-cost model will be 30-40 per cent cheaper than the current super speciality hospitals, Singh told Business Standard on the sidelines of the ISB Leadership Summit 2012 here on Friday.
“Low cost is going to be a major plan and platform for growth and fulfil a very important demand of the country. That is the segment where the healthcare is really required,” Singh added.
On how many hospitals it was planning in the coming years, he said, “We have not charted the numbers yet. We have grown quite aggressively and are looking forward to the same growth.”
It currently has 56 hospitals, with a capacity of over 8,000 beds.
