Vacancy: Senior Manager Programmes, Aga Khan Health Services


Aga Khan Health Services: With community health programmes in large geographical areas in Central and South Asia, as well as East Africa, and more than 200 health facilities including nine hospitals, the Aga Khan Health Services (AKHS) is one of the most comprehensive private not-for-profit health care systems in the developing world. Building on the Ismaili Community's health care efforts in the first half of the 20th century, AKHS now provides primary health care and curative medical care in Afghanistan, India, Kenya, Pakistan, and Tanzania, and provides technical assistance to government in health service delivery in Kenya, Syria and Tajikistan.
 

The Position:The Senior Programme Manager (SMP) community Health Division (CHD) will be leading and be primarily responsible for giving directions to the Community Health Projects of AKHS,I.

He/she will be responsible for initiating planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Community Health Strategies, projects and research activities in AKHS,I.



  • Lead in overall strategic planning and the annual budgeting process of programme activities


  • Designing innovative new projects and programmes,identify and apply to funding agencies


  • Develop protocols, quality assurance tools and systems for various programme components.


  • Undertake regular supervision and technical support of health professionals and volunteers


  • Oversee proper implementation of Health Management Information Systems and ongoing process of data collection and reporting from the field.


  • Facilitate networking, collaboration and liaison with donor agencies,government, NGO's along with other agencies of the AKDN Institutes.


  • Report writing, Proposal writing and documentation


  • Development and implementation of projects& research activities relevant to understanding and improvement of the health of communities.


  • Define roles and responsibility of CHD staffs and set up goals and evaluate their performance.



  • The Requirements


  • Qualifications: MD in Preventive and Social Medicines or Master's in Public Health


  • Experience: 8-10 years of experience,prior experience of working in Developing countries
