Vacancy: Chief of party, Chemonics

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID-funded Health Strategic Information Activity in India. The activity will strengthen existing health management information systems and knowledge management to support decision-making and advocacy for public health planning at the district, state, and national levels. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall leadership, management oversight, and technical direction
  • Oversee work planning, budgeting, performance management, and strategic communications
  • Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision
  • Serve as key liaison to USAID; international, regional, and national partners; and donors
  • Strategically address key public health challenges in India and build private-sector partnerships across technical areas including RH/FP, infectious disease, and MCH
  • Supervise technical and administrative staff
 Qualifications:
 
  • Advanced degree in public health, public administration, international development, or related discipline; Ph.D. preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience working in public health in developing or transitional countries 
  • Minimum five years of experience in a senior leadership position, preferably managing complex health programs in India
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with USAID and local counterparts and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage project resources, manage activity and financial reporting, and ensure timely completion of project tasks
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams; chief of party experience on projects funded by USAID or equivalent experience for other donors preferred  
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and developing health policy programs with a strong knowledge of the health policy environment in India
  • Knowledge of capacity-building in health policy and health information systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Experience working in South Asia preferred; Indian nationality a plus
  • Fluency in English required
