Now, hospital adopts charter to serve better

NOIDA: After the Noida Authority and the district police, the Ambedkar Multispecialty Hospital is the latest to embrace a citizen's charter to provide greater transparency and effectiveness. According to the charter, the issuing of health certificates, which require the permissions of the hospital and the health department of the district, will now take place within a stipulated period of time. The charter will be implemented from December 1.

The city's first government multispecialty hospital was constructed at a massive cost of Rs 150 crore. Touted as UP chief minister Mayawati's dream project, the state-of-the-art hospital regularly caters to the needs of more than 2,000 patients. Hospital officials explained that the charter had been adopted by the hospital to provide greater accountability and transparency. "The hospital has already been following most of the things specified in the charter, but this will ensure that the patient has more faith in us and, at the same time, will make the hospital staff more diligent," said Dr Meena Mishra, CMS, district hospital.

The charter specifies the stipulated time for issuing of a number of health certificates and aims to create greater awareness among patients coming into the hospital. According to the charter, cash assistance with delivery and post-delivery care as per the Janani Suraksha Yojana will be given at the time of delivery. Certificates relating to age, disability, fitness, birth and death will now be issued within one day. Medical reimbursement will be given within one month.
