Kerala: Hospital turns into wedding venue for patient

They say marriages are made in heaven, but these days they also take place in hospitals. Prethush and Rekha's wedding date had been fixed for Sunday. That was a month ago. Unfortunately, a few weeks prior to the wedding, Prethush, who hails from Alappuzha district, met with an accident. He was riding a motorcycle when he collided with a car.
He sustained injuries and fractured both legs. He was admitted to the Ernakulam Specialists Hospital in Kochi where he underwent surgeries on both legs. The unfortunate incident cast a pall of gloom in the bride and groom's families. Both families thought it wise to postpone the wedding. But it was then that Rekha put her foot down. She decided to get married to Prethush on the appointed date.
When hospital authorities heard that Prethush was supposed to get married on Sunday, they decided to make arrangements in the hospital itself. On Sunday, the first floor of the specialist hospital was converted into a wedding venue and Prethush was wheeled in to keep his date with destiny.
Initially, Rekha's parents were reluctant, but when she put her foot down, they relented. The couple's parents, relatives, doctors and staff were present to solemnise the wedding. The bride and groom were dressed in their finery and at the auspicious moment, Prethush and Rekha exchanged vows and garlanded each other amid cheers from those present.
After the wedding, sweets were distributed among the guests. Prethush has to spend one more week at the hospital to fully recover from the injury. Rekha, when asked whether she is dismayed that Prethush would have to stay in hospital for some more days, said: "One week is not a long time. We can wait."
