As reported in Radio Australia:
Authorities in the north Indian state of Rajasthan are offering prizes including television sets, food processors and even a car for people who agree to undergo sterilisation.
This is to address flagging sterilisation rates in the state, and while it may seem like a simple enough plan to control population growth, it seems women are the targets...amid concerns of coercion and poor surgical practices.
Reporter: Sonja Heydeman
Speakers: Sona Sharma, spokeswoman, Population Fund of India; Dr D.R. Rai, secretary-general, Indian Medical Association
